27 November 2018: Free family support sessions this Christmas
Action on Addiction is offering free family support sessions in the run-up to Christmas for adult family members that are struggling with a loved one’s addiction.
Experienced family counsellor Matt Serlin will be holding 30-minute support sessions on Friday 7 and Tuesday 11 December 2018 between the hours of 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
The sessions are free but need to be booked in advance.
Katherine Jenkins, Head of Service at Action on Addiction, said: “As we approach December the idea of Christmas can fill people with both joy and fear. For some, it is a magical time filled with excitement and hope and for others it has a very different meaning.
“Families who are affected by a loved one’s addiction can dread the increase in parties and celebration, the expectations placed upon them and the difficult dynamics which may arise from the whole family coming together. For many, this time of year only increases fear and worry about the impact a loved one’s addiction may have not only on themselves, but the entire family.”
The support sessions are available over the phone only.
