Terry Parsons
Terry is the Lead Chef at our residential treatment centre, Clouds House, in Wiltshire and has been with us for 17 years. Commitment or what!?
He ran the 2019 Royal Parks Half Marathon with a time of 1hr 49m 57s as part of our Action on Addiction team and most recently he took part in the 2.6 Challenge which was carried out over the 26th April 2020 to help support the UK charities with the cancellation of major fundraising events like the London Marathon.
He set out to raise £260.00 (in keeping with the 2.6 theme) but he was so amazed with all the support from family, friends and colleagues, that he completely smashed his target and raised a whopping £624.00!
Terry says "I decided, as I was stuck in lockdown, to do a personal challenge and thought it would be a nice idea to raise some money for a charity as well. I have worked at clouds for 17 years so have seen first-hand what amazing changes can happen for people if they get the chance to start their recovery journey at Clouds. So, it was an obvious choice to raise some for Clouds House."
I completed the 2.6 challenge. I decided to run 26.2 miles over 2.6 days. I'd been running more than usual during lock down, so thought I could push myself to complete two 10 mile runs and 6 mile run over the consecutive days.
It was certainly a challenge, but as the sponsorship and encouragement with the messages came in it made me more determined to complete it.
I would always recommend doing something for charity, they are all desperate for funds and do such amazing work for the people they are trying to help."
