The Brink of Change programme

This programme helps people prepare for treatment options which requires them to be abstinent prior to admission. 

Drawing on motivational and cognitive approaches the programme is delivered through themed workshops and support groups. The programme offers the following activities:

  • Peer support breakfasts
  • Group-based and one-to-one sessions
  • Relapse support groups
  • Guest speaker presentations
  • Relapse prevention workshops
  • Facilitated access to fellowship and other mutual aid groups
  • Information and support for family members

Referrals are taken from any source and self referrals are welcomed.

The programme operates at The Brink Cafe between 9am and 6pm five days a week, and also on Sunday afternoons.

The Alcohol Pre-Abstinent Support Service (APASS)  

This confidential service, which is run from a private space at The Brink Café, offers people support in making informed choices about their use of alcohol. Support groups and one-to-one counselling are available, together with the offer of onward referral to other appropriate services. 

The service is available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm as well as on Monday and Wednesday evenings between 5pm and 8pm.
