By Rosie Park, Head of Marketing & Communications at Action on Addiction

This year is the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Clouds House, our residential treatment facility in Wiltshire.

Since its doors opened in 1983, Clouds has welcomed more than 11,000 people and has given them all the chance of living a sustainable and rewarding life in recovery.

To mark this special year, we have created a graphic to use across our marketing and communications – it’s a symbol that should be familiar to those people and their families that have a connection with Clouds.

The weathervane sits on the roof of Action on Addiction’s head office which is adjacent to Clouds House itself, and is one of the many characterful features of a beautiful house, nestled in the idyllic Wiltshire countryside, built in the arts and crafts era. When we were looking for a way of marking our 35th anniversary – and in the knowledge that what a logo signifies is much more than just its design and colour palette – we could think of no better symbol than the weathervane which does its job discreetly and quietly in all weathers 365 days of the year.

This epitomises Action on Addiction’s treatment approach, and we know that many of our former clients here would talk of the ‘magic of Clouds’.

Our high-quality and effective treatment programme, delivered by expert and caring doctors, nurses and counsellors, gives the people who come here a new chance at life. For some, they really would say that Clouds has saved their lives.

To know that we have been delivering our treatment for 35 years feels very special, it is testament to the success of our programme and our clients’ transformational experiences.

Our 35th anniversary graphic is an important marker – while it can never truly encapsulate the magic of Clouds, it is a reminder of the legacy of success at Clouds and also signifies the hope of the many thousands of people that we will continue to treat in the future.
