Lee Ramsay
Lee Ramsay has set himself a personal challenge to run 50 marathons in a year in memory of his sister Nicola and to celebrate his 50th birthday in December 2021. He says "I choose Action on Addiction to fundraise for with this challenge because my sister was suffering with addiction and hated that she had become so powerless but wasn't able to find her way into recovery. It gives me a great sense of achievement and gratitude to give something back and I know Nicola is with me every step of the way." He started his challenge on 3rd January 2021 and it will end exactly one year after he started or once he completes his 50th Marathon. If you would like to donate to help support Lee in this amazing challenge and honour Nicola, you can visit his Just Giving page here.
In 2018, Lee completed the Dublin Marathon and then the London Marathon 2019, both were to help raise money for Action on Addiction. He was due to join us for the 2020 London Marathon but the race was cancelled due to COVID-19. He will be running on 3rd October 2021 in the London Marathon. For those of you who read Lee's story and became inspired to take on a personal challenge to help raise money for Action on Addiction, Lee shares this piece of advice "If anyone else was thinking of taking on a challenge and raising money, no matter what you do, do it! It always seems impossible until it’s done."
