9 February 2018: round-the-clock intensive care at Clouds Clouds House is one of the longest established and best known treatment centres in the UK. It has been running for 35 years and has helped thousands of people move their lives on in recovery, free from addiction. In an article for The Parliamentary Review, Graham Beech, Action on Addiction's Chief Executive, discusses how the staff at Clouds challenge the idea that there is anything magical about the work they do. He argues that whilst the treatment at Clouds may seem mysterious to the outside world, the truth is more prosaic. Clouds treatment is centred on round-the-clock intensive care - medical, psychological and emotional - for people with deep-rooted and complex problems. The article also highlights the work the charity is doing to reach more people in more places through our community-based treatment programmes and degree level education courses at The Centre for Addiction Treatment Studies. Across all policy areas, The Parliamentary Review is sent to over half a million leading policy makers, stakeholders in industry and other relevant individuals. The articles in the Review act as both a blueprint for success and a template for reform. An online version of the Action on Addiction article can be found here.
