Action on Addiction has announced the launch of its new strategy to make its life-saving treatment available to more people in more places.

The strategy, which sits under the banner of 'Clouds in the Community' was launched by the charity's patron, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, at its new treatment centre in Wickford, Essex, yesterday.

The Duchess congratulated the charity on its approach to community rehabilitation, which is based on the remarkable outcomes which have been achieved at its Self-Help Addiction Recovery Programme (SHARP) in Essex. Independent evaluation of the programme, which is commissioned by Essex County Council, showed that less than 25% of clients returned to any treatment service upon completion of the scheme.
