Action on Addiction's CEO Graham Beech has spoken about the damaging impact the cash for patients scandal has on the vital work of addiction treatment.

Writing in The Guardian, Graham discusses the recent Sunday Times expose into unscrupulous practice by some in the medical profession as well as the worrying CQC report at the end of last year.

His greatest concern about the negative publicity is the effect it is having on people who require life-saving treatment, and who may now be dissuaded from seeking it. Addiction treatment, when done in the right manner, puts the necessary building blocks in place to enable long-term stable recovery to flourish.
