Up to three million of the UK’s children live in homes where their parents or other adults have problems with alcohol and/or drugs. These children are seven times more likely to experience problems in later life with addiction or other mental health issues.

Action on Addiction’s M-PACT programme (Moving Parents and Children Together) enables children to talk about their feelings and experiences with their parents in a safe and protected environment.

M-PACT comprises 10 sessions followed by a reunion which is held three months after the end of the programme.

M-PACT is now being delivered across England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland and, thanks to joint funding from Comic Relief and The Royal Foundation M-PACT is now being delivered in partnership with Place2Be in schools.

M-PACT has also been piloted at HM Prisons Parc, Birmingham, Humber, and Styal.

Family residential programme

Our residential family programme was developed 30 years ago to help family members, partners and friends who are suffering or who have suffered greatly from the consequences of another’s drug and/or alcohol misuse.

The programme provides family members with a safe place where they can speak about their difficulties with others who share similar experiences.

Our experienced family counsellors from Clouds House gently and respectfully help family members to understand what is happening and how to begin making changes.

Participants gain information and education about addiction and its effects on others, while workshops, discussions and group therapy provide opportunities to explore personal issues and to receive help.

It is not necessary for a family member or friend to be in treatment to benefit from this programme.

Our family residentials cost £500 per person and take place in Warminster, Wiltshire on the following dates:

18-21 February 2019

18-21 March 2019

10-13 June 2019
