Swimathon 2007
On Sunday 4th March 2007, 82 swimmers of all ages and abilities took to The Third Space pool to raise money for Action on Addiction.
The day started with a splash and each hour new swimmers took to the pool to swim 120 lengths in the fastest time possible. Celebrity guest swimmers Chris Evans and Richard Bacon took the plunge and joined in the spirit of the event in one of the many teams, who together raised a fabulous £116,000 for Action on Addiction.
Chris Evans hosted the prize giving ceremony the following evening at The Groucho Club, where victorious swimmers celebrated their success with some great prizes for fastest team and highest fundraisers.
Thank you to all the team captains and swimmers who worked so hard with their fundraising and for making the Swimathon such a great event. Thank you also to everyone who sponsored the swimmers, and enabled us to raise much needed funds for our vital research.
We would like to thank The Third Space for kindly agreeing to underwrite the costs of the event so that all proceeds go directly to Action on Addiction, The Groucho Club for hosting the prize giving, Zoggs for donating the goody bags and Pure California for providing refreshments.
