Visiting & Family Involvement
Personal relationships play an important role in recovery. We strongly encourage families to get involved. We also recognise that families have needs of their own.
Clouds House is an abstinence-based treatment centre, and needs to remain a drug and alcohol free environment. In order to maintain this, as well as to assist those new in treatment to be able to fully engage in the treatment programme, restrictions are placed on when you will be able to receive visitors.
Visiting times
Visiting will be by your invitation only, between 10am and 4.30pm on Sundays. If your visitors are unable to attend at this time then special arrangements may be made via the treatment team in order to accommodate visiting on other days.
Research has established that those recovering from addiction will have a greatly improved chance of maintaining recovery if family/friends/employers are supportive of recovery. As a result we take the view that Sunday visiting should provide an opportunity to offer your visitors the chance to receive information and support from the staff at Clouds House.
The Sunday visitors' programme, in addition to providing the opportunity for social visiting, includes a lecture given by a member of the counselling team on aspects of addiction and its relation to families, and the opportunity to participate in a visitors support group, facilitated by a Family Counsellor.
Support for families
An important aspect of our treatment philosophy is to recognise that families and friends of those who are addicted are often severely affected and also deserve help and support. We have a department dedicated to this work called Families Plus, who work in partnership with the residential treatment centre. Alongside this we have trained Family Counsellors working within the treatment team.
