DANOS

The Foundation Degree has been signposted to the Drug and Alcohol National Occupational Standards for service delivery published by Skills for Health and the National Treatment Agency. Further information on DANOS can be found on the Skills for Health website.

FDAP

FDAP (The Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals) has granted graduates of the Action on Addiction/University of Bath Foundation Degree in Addictions Counselling Type 3 evidence for the following 12 DANOS units. Further information on FDAP can be found on their website:

AA02 - Relate to, and interact with, individuals

AA04 - Promote the equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities of
individuals

AA06 - Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all
individuals

AB05 - Assess and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance users

AC01 - Reflect on and develop your practice

AC02 - Make use of supervision

AF02 - Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise needs

AF03 - Carry out comprehensive substance misuse assessment

BD04 - Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the
working environment

BI05 - Promote effective communication for and about individuals

AI01 - Counsel individuals about their substance use using recognised
theoretical models

AI03 - Counsel groups of individuals about their substance use using
recognised theoretical models

This entitles holders of the Action on Addiction/University of Bath Foundation Degree in Addictions Counselling, upon completion of some simple proformae, to become certified by FDAP as 'Accredited Practitioners' before entering employment.
