Action on Addiction welcomes the showing of BBC’s fact-based drama ‘Best: His Mother’s Son’. The programme is timely given the current concern over levels of alcohol consumption in this country. The programme highlighted the devastating effect that alcohol can have, not only on the alcoholic but on the rest of the family as well. It also showed that alcoholism can affect people of all ages and could be the result of the kinds of stress or pressures that many people will experience at some point in their life.
