Action on Addiction’s Clouds House has released a commemorative book to celebrate its 25 years of treating people with drug and alcohol addiction problems.
11 May 2009
Clouds House is a first stage residential treatment centre set in a Grade II* listed building in beautiful Wiltshire parkland in East Knoyle. The commemorative book is being released to celebrate the achievements of Clouds and some of its former clients over its 25 years of treating people with addiction problems.Claire Clarke, Head of Service at Clouds House says,
"This book is testament to the life-changing work that has been done in Clouds House over the years. Each story shows the amazing journey of the individual, but together they show that there is hope for those who are currently suffering from this illness."
Quote from book - "What a mess I had made. What a waste of so many years. I had never given myself a chance. My drug of choice was ‘what have you got"
The book includes a foreword from AA Gill, some beautiful photography of the house and surrounding area and 25 personal addiction stories - one from each year of Clouds House existence as a treatment centre.
Quote from book - "I was under 7 stone, dirty and completely broken from using drugs and being homeless, in a nutshell I was a scared lonely child. I remember that feeling of love and care I got from everyone at Clouds House"
The book is available for purchase online from our website www.actiononaddiction.org.uk, Clouds House reception and the Wren bookshop in the Post Office in the village of East Knoyle.
