About Our Research
/104-1column.aspx)
The
National Addiction Centre and
Marina House (now part of the South London and Maudesley NHS Trust) were founded by Action on Addiction which also established the first chair in Addiction Psychiatry held by Professor John Strang.
Action on Addiction currently supports many different
addiction research projects. We investigate the effectiveness of new and existing treatment and prevention techniques in order to reduce addiction problems in our society.
We are able to provide independent and objective evidence to guide policy makers and treatment commissioners to develop addiction policy and treatment in the UK and to help reduce the stigma surrounding the causes of addiction.
We work closely with
researchers at the
National Addiction Centre, part of the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London and the
Mental Health Research and Development Unit at the University of Bath.
If you are interested in knowing about current addiction research in the UK this section will help guide you to some of the most pioneering projects as well as the leading addiction research institutions.
Our research would not be possible without the generous donations of our supporters. If you would like to support our research, please talk to our Fundraising Team directly on 020 7793 3416 or vist our
