One of the most enduring findings in all of research literature on addiction treatment is that the quality of the relationship between the helper and the helped is more important that the modality of the intervention being applied. All too often that quality is found to be in short supply.
This is why Clouds and then Action on Addiction set out to raise the standard of addiction therapy by training counsellors and practitioners of psycho-social interventions for addiction to a higher standard than ever before.
The 10-year partnership with the University of Bath has been essential to the success of this venture and why people from a wide variety of backgrounds have signed up to the Foundation and Honours degree courses taught by the Centre for Addiction Treatment Studies.
Many people in their own recovery from addiction have found this an excellent way to continue their personal journey as they go on to help many others suffering from the condition that affected their lives. It is a very proud moment when they receive their University of Bath degree.
Anyone interested in getting on these popular courses for entry in the autumn of 2015 should call the Centre for Addition Treatment Studies right away. You may be eligible for financial support.
